Marvels, Mysteries & God Sent Solutions

I am very happy to say that I have overcome the last mechanical issue that was plaguing the Baroness and I. The filler plug for the driveshaft is stripped inside the fill hole. No matter what I tried, pulling while turning with vise grips, prying while turning, the plug would not come out of the hole. I did NOT want to have to drill out the plug and insert an Heli-coil, more time and money, but I needed to get the final drive lubricated. So I headed over to the ADV forums and posted my situation and got the best advice from an inmate called "Hardwaregrrl". She suggested using a battery filler ( a bulb and tube, much like a turkey baster) and pulling the boot off the transmission and introducing oil through the tranny end of shaft.

I didn't have a battery filler, but I did have a meat injector(syringe) and some tubing. So I cut a length of tubing to reach the final drive, filled my syringe with gear oil and inserted it into tubing and filled her up! Hallelujah!! Now only thing remains is to set the timing and synchronize the carbs. My buddy Clay is going to help me out with that, and I'm waiting for him to get back from his moto-trip to the Adirondacks.

It was also recommended that I use some form of engine detergent to clean out the engine since it has been dormant for so long. I top off my engine oil with a product call "Marvel Mystery Oil", I like the name and it smells clean.

Also decide to shave a couple inches off my flyscreen doo-hickey.
